The National Council of the Multifamily Housing Industry (NCMHI) is part of the NAHB Builder and Associate Services Division, which serves special interest groups. NCMHI provides members and local councils with technical information on building and management. Professional staff develop training programs, seminars and workshops, researches and writes special reports on marketing trends; and manages the Registered in Apartment Management (RAM) and Certified Leasing Professional programs of certification.
Registered in Apartment Management
The NAHB's RAM program represents superior standards, management competency and professional credibility by offering a series of certifications at various levels of expertise. The RAM program offers property managers a training path for complete career development. Instead of relying on the opinions of a "few" experts, NAHB went straight to the source and asked 3,000 active industry practitioners what they actually do. The results of their 28 page job analysis survey told them, in detail, which skills and knowledge property managers need to master their business. A compilation of this data was used to decide which areas to test, thus creating RAM School. The RAM School is a 40-hour training program sponsored by your local Multifamily Council through NAHB. The classes are followed by a competency-based exam consisting of 100 multiple choice questions covering the following topics:
- Personnel
- Occupancy Files
- Office Management
- Marketing
- Financial Management
- Application and Move-Out
- Maintenance
- Fair Housing and Americans with Disabilites Regulations
