Meetings

Join us at our next meeting!  Each MMC chapter meets on a monthly basis.  Whether it’s a general membership meeting or a special event, we’d love to see you there. 

The MMC Hattiesburg meets on the second Thursday of the month at 11:30 a.m.  The meeting location varies, so check the MMC newsletter for that month and keep your eyes open for emailed reminders for the meetings. 

The MMC Jackson meets on the third Tuesday of each month.  They meet at Steam Room Grille at noon.  The MMC Jackson holds special events every other month, so be sure to look out for emails and flyers that will let you know what will be going on in Jackson for that month.

 The MMC Gulf Coast meets on the third Thursday of each month at noon.  The meeting location varies, so check the MMC newsletter for that month and keep your eyes open for emailed reminders for the meetings.

Special Events

The MMC loves to hold special events where members and their families can get together and have a good time.  In the spring and summer you can look forward to crawfish boils, summer parties and our annual cook-off.  In the fall we hold our annual bowling tournaments, our statewide trade show in August, an awards banquet in November and Christmas parties.  Not only can you find the information on these events in the monthly MMC newsletter, emails and mailed-out fliers will also be sent out to announce these events. 

Awards

The MS Multifamily Council’s annual Awards of Excellence are held each November to honor those shining individuals in the multifamily industry from across the state.  Nomination forms and applications are sent out each year in September.  The following are the awards given out each year:

Associate Member of the Year

Maintenance Professional of the Year

Leasing Professional of the Year

Assistant Manager of the Year

Property Manager of the Year

Property Supervisor of the Year

Deadline for application submission is FRIDAY, OCTOBER, 16, 2009.

Beautification Showcase

The Mississippi Multifamily Council likes to recognize the multifamily communities which have the best curb appeal and site merchandising among all MMC members.  The winners are the “best of the best” in multifamily living within the state of Mississippi.  Properties will be recognized by the best in age of property categories and location.  Recognition will also be given to those properties with the Best Pool, Best Entrance, Best Playground and an overall Best in Show.  Forms and applications are sent to all members in September. Recognition to these winners will be given at the MMC’s Annual Awards Banquet to be held in November.

Trade Show

The MMC holds an annual Education Conference & Trade Show each August, which is the largest gathering of MMC members from across the state.

The 2009 Education Conference and Trade Show is scheduled for August 4^th at the Hilton Hotel in Jackson.  The annual conference will begin at noon with a luncheon.  The MMC has seen great success over the past years with attaining inspiring keynote speakers for the luncheon, and this year is no exception with Mississippi State Treasurer, Tate Reeves, on the agenda.  The day will continue with multiple seminars aimed at educating multifamily industry attendees on the management, leasing and maintenance sides:  Fair Housing Seminar; Social Marketing Seminar & HD Supply Maintenance Seminar.  That afternoon, the MMC will host a VIP Hour at 3 p.m., a new addition to the annual Trade Show.  This VIP Hour will give vendors an additional hour to visit with upper management attendees.  The day will conclude with the Trade Show, which will run from 4 until 6 p.m.
